Cytotaxonimic Studies On The Arisaema

Abstract
A comparative study on the several species of Arisaema growing in Korea, was carried out on the morphology, cytology, and distribution.
The author carefully reviewed the gross morphology of these taxa and studied leaf epidermal pattern, stomata size, pollen size, and chromosome numbers to find the relationships among them.
The somatic chromosome number of Arisaema amurense Max., var. serratum Nakai and Arisaema peninsulae Nakai was found to be 2N=28.
The somatic chromosome number of Arisaema amurense Max., Arisaema robustum Nakai, and Arisaema heterophyllum Bume was found to be 2N=48, 2N=56, 2N=140.
According to the gross morphology, stomata, pollen and chromosome numbers, Arisaema amurense Max. var. serratum Nakai and Arisaema peninsulae Nakai are presumed to be more primitive taxa than the others.
The size of stomata and pollen of Arisaema amurense Max., Arisaema robustum Nakai and Arisaema heterophyllum Blume was larger than that former two taxa.
Thus Arisaema amurense Max., Arisaema robustum Nakai, and Arisaema heterophyllum Blume were presumed to be polyploid series.
